Malcolm entered the arrivals area at Glasgow airport. A woman was holding a small placard with his name on it. He went to her.

"Mr. Mayweather?" she asked with a heavy Glaswegian brogue. The woman had red hair and a smattering of freckles on her exposed skin. Her eyes were crystal blue, and she had a curvy softness to her. "I'm Isla Urquhart," she thrust out her hand. "I cannae tell ye how thrilled I am that you're accompanyin' me."

Malcolm shook her hand. "I'm excited by your research, and we're glad to help."

"Without ye, I'd not be allowed to test me work in the field." She glanced at her watch. "We need to hustle, Mr. Mayweather, if we want to make it to Kilmartin Glen before nightfall."

"Call me Malcolm. Where are we going?"

"Kilmartin Glen, Scotland's most important Neolithic site. Nowhere better to test out me theories. I'll explain in the car."

He accompanied her to the vehicle, where she opened the hatch to stow his bags. "I expected your car to be loaded with high tech gizmos. What are we testing?"

"It's in me backpack," she beamed as she closed the hatch. "It's compact. Creatin' something bulky wouldnae be much use for investigators, would it? I'm not lettin' it out of me sight. I've got a second one in me lab, but those are the only scanners."

They entered the car and headed west. "What I've been workin' on is, not to toot me own horn, revolutionary. Many investigators have expressed the ability to sense when they are in the presence of these extraterrestrial influences. Can ye?"

"No," said Malcolm. "I'm new at this. The woman who taught me the ropes, Mindy, claimed to be proficient."

"So ye're aware of this ability? Good. It got me thinkin'. If agents could sense this, there must be palpable energy emitted by these items and individuals. There could theoretically be a technological counterpart."

"And you've developed something you think can duplicate this?"

"Aye!" she exclaimed. "I've only tested it in the lab on a few items that give off this energy. The worry is me scanner is attuned to this specific energy and would not apply to broader usage. I need to try the device on a different source."

"Is Kilmartin Glen known as a hotbed of extraterrestrial activity?"

"Nae, but I've a suspicion. I think the ancient Celts possessed knowledge of these beings. Particularly the Druids."

"Druids?"

"A priest of the ancient Picts. I'm not sayin' they were all ravin' lunatic cultists, mind ye. Still, I suspect some of them possessed knowledge of these alien monsters. Me theory is most Neolithic sites, like Stonehenge, have a Mythos element to them. Kilmartin Glen has standing stones and cairns, and if I'm correct, we should discover Mythos-related energy there."

"What happened to these Druids?"

"The Romans hunted them during the conquest, and they disappear from the written record in the second century. I assume they went underground to escape persecution; elements of them are perhaps around today in the modern cults."
